Statistically who is the average man and woman in the France in 2024
Ever wondered where you stand out or fall behind. Are you average, beyond average or below. In France you might be surprised to hear the averages across the board. So many people wish for a million euros, a boyfriend who is 6 feet tall and makes tons of money but the thing is, these are rare.
Only 6% of households in France have a net worth of a million euros or more. Considering 17.5% of men in France are 6 feet or taller and 5% make 150k euros or more that leaves just over .9% of the male population matching these characteristics. Only about 1% of the population.
The point isn’t to say this is not impossible but to say if you do not match these standards you are not alone. You are of the 99% of men in France who do not match these standards.
Quick note on average vs median. Median is the number in the middle. It is less sensitive to outliers and extreme values and so makes for a better example for finding the average in these situations. For example, when it comes to net worth, the average can be skewed by the fact that someone can be a billionaire. Rising the level to extreme values that are not a good guide for the group.

If you look back at are article about the average U.S. person. here Or If you look back at are article about the average U.K. man and woman. here
It comes as little bit of a shock that the median income of people in France is quite a bit lower, yet the median net worth is quite a bit higher than people in the U.S. I mean it is almost half the income of those in the U.S. yet the net worths are larger than people in the U.S. or at least the median. With the U.S. man earning $50,000 and having a net worth of $121,000, and the U.S. woman earning $40,000 and having a net worth of $88,000.
Some reasons for this would obviously be cost of living, and the need for Americans to pay out of pocket for health services. Also, maybe it is due to the U.S. having a much smaller percentage of people finishing higher education.
I think it is likely quite a bit deeper with consumption habits. After all per person France produces 4.6 tonnes of co2 while people in the U.S. produce 14.9 tonnes of co2. On average Americans are consuming way more than people in France. While people in the U.K.produce 4.9 tons of co2 and have similar statistics as those in France.
Frances time spent on the phone is 2.5 hours a day compared to the average 4 hours a day for Americans. This saves them 10.5 hours a week of just time off the phone.
All of this is to say, France is a big country with a population of 70 million people and probably not many fit this average. It is interesting to look at though as a way to understand that the median person.
